Chris Lee is a football historian, author, and podcaster. He runs a podcast and Substack called Outside Write, which explores football’s off-field stories, including history, politics, culture, and groundhopping. 

He has published three books: ‘Origin Stories: The Pioneers Who Took Football to the World’ (2021), ‘The Defiant: A History of Football Against Fascism’ (2022), and ‘Shades of Green: A Journey into Irish Football’ (2025), which was talkSPORT’s ‘Book of the Week’.

He has guest lectured for the University of Bath and has written for Football Weekends and Glory magazine.
