Tony Topping
Tony is a retired factory worker who writes for an hobby. He has been a Wigan Athletic supporter since the 1970/71 season after the 1970 World Cup ignited a passion for football in him as a 16 year old that had previously only watched football from time to time. Guess that Brazil side have a lot to answer for!
Tony has written for the Wigan Athletic fanzine in it's many guises for years, and long may "The Mudhutter" continue to flourish. He has also had articles published in the Wigan Athletic programme though sadly the club don't issue one anymore.
He has been lucky enough to walk on the old Wembley pitch when his daughter was the Wigan mascot against Millwall in 1999, and he was instrumental in getting a Blue Plaque to mark the birthplace of Wigan Athletic in the Queens Hall, Wigan.
